Inside the numbers:
Paul edges Obama among male voters 45% to 40% but trails the president by a wider 45% to 31% margin among females. Younger voters prefer the president; older voters give the edge of Paul.

Voters not affiliated with either political party are almost evenly divided. However, one-in-four (26%) of these voters either favor another candidate or are undecided.

Paul draws support from 61% of conservatives, 26% of moderates and 14% of liberals. Obama is favored by 75% of liberals, 54% of moderates and 16% of conservatives.
