Survey of 500 New Mexico voters was conducted February 14, 2012. The margin of error is +/- 4.5 percentage points.

Inside the numbers:
The president holds a small lead among male voters in New Mexico against both Republicans but leads his potential challengers nearly two-to-one among female voters.

Two-thirds (67%) of Hispanic voters favor the incumbent over either of the GOP hopefuls.

Voters under 40 strongly prefer Obama, while older voters give the GOP candidates a slight edge. Married voters favor the president by small margins; unmarried voters are overwhelmingly in his camp.

Among voters not affiliated with either of the major parties, Obama earns roughly 70% against both Santorum and Romney.

Santorum is viewed favorably by 44% of New Mexico voters, Romney by 37%.
