Poll Watch: Rasmussen (R) Montana 2012 Senatorial Survey

Rasmussen (R) Montana 2012 Senate Poll
  • Denny Rehberg (R) 47% (47%)
  • Jon Tester (D) 44% (44%)
  • Some other candidate 6% (4%)
  • Undecided 3% (5%)
Survey of 500 likely Montana voters was conducted April 2, 2012. The margin of error is +/- 4.5 percentage points.  Results from the poll conducted February 22, 2012 are in parentheses.

Inside the numbers:
Rehberg holds slight leads among both male and female voters. He’s ahead of Tester by seven – 45% to 38% - among voters not affiliated with either of the major political parties.

Voters under 40 tend toward Tester, while older voters prefer Rehberg. The GOP hopeful holds the lead among married voters, while unmarrieds by a similar margin favor the incumbent instead.

Tester who was first elected to the Senate in 2006 is viewed very favorably by 25% of voters in the state and very unfavorably by 27%. Twenty-three percent (23%) share a very favorable opinion of Rehberg, a six-term U.S. congressman, while 31% regard him very unfavorably. That marks a slight increase in the unfavorables for both candidates.
