Note: Among voters who agree with the decision, 51% support Obama, while 46% favor Romney. Romney holds a sizable 66% to 30% advantage among those voters who disagree with the high court's ruling.

Note: Romney earns 86% of the vote from those who are angry; Obama picks up 56% support from those who are mildly frustrated and 76% from those who consider immigration policy just one issue out of many.

Some people believe that the goal of immigration policy should be to keep out national security threats, criminals, and those who would come here to live off our welfare system. Beyond that, all immigrants would be welcome. Do you agree or disagree with that goal for immigration policy?

Note: Romney is far ahead among voters who feel English should be the official language, while the much smaller group overwhelmingly supports Obama.

Survey of 500 likely voters was conducted June 26, 2012. The margin of error is +/- 4.5 percentage points.  Results from the poll conducted March 13, 2012 are in parentheses. Results from the poll conducted February 1, 2012 are in square brackets.

Inside the numbers:

Indicative of the importance of the immigration law in the state, 90% of Arizona voters say they have been following news stories about the law and the Supreme Court at least somewhat closely, with 54% who have been following them Very Closely. The overall number following these stories is much higher than the level found among voters nationwide.

Most white voters support Romney, while blacks heavily favor Obama. Among voters of other races, Obama holds a 58% to 41% advantage.
