Note: Among voters who are excited about the choice, Obama leads 62% to 35%. Romney is ahead 59% to 29% among voters who view the election as a choice between the lesser of two evils.

Survey of 500 likely Iowa voters was conducted June 11, 2012.  The margin of error is +/- 4.5 percentage points.  
Inside the numbers:
Romney leads by 11 points among male voters in Iowa but trails Obama by eight among female voters. The two are tied among voters not affiliated with either of the major political parties.

Just 18% of voters in Iowa think Obama and Romney are the two best people running for the presidency.

Forty-seven percent (47%) of all Iowa voters say they agree with the president on most issues, with 16% who agree with him on just about everything. Forty-five percent (45%) agree with Romney, but that includes only five percent (5%) who agree with him on just about everything.

Fifty-eight percent (58%) believe the two candidates disagree on most important issues, and another 28% say they disagree on just about everything.

Forty-four percent (44%) consider Romney’s business experience primarily a reason to vote for him, but 38% think it’s chiefly a reason to vote against him.
