Survey of 500 likely Montana voters was conducted June 18, 2012. The margin of error is +/- 4.5 percentage points.  Results from the poll conducted May 2, 2012 are in curly brackets.  Results from the poll conducted April 2, 2012 are in square brackets.  Results from the poll conducted February 22, 2012 are in parentheses.
Inside the numbers:
Rehberg, a six-term congressman, is viewed very favorably by 23% of voters in the state, while 28% regard him very unfavorably.

Thirty-one percent (31%) share a very favorable impression of Tester, who is seeking a second six-year term in the senate, and 27% view him very unfavorably.

Rehberg holds a 10-point advantage over Tester among men, but women prefer the Democrat 50% to 44%. Most married voters support Rehberg, while the majority of those who aren’t married favor the incumbent.

Both candidates earn a sizable amount of support from members of their own respective parties, but they are tied among voters not affiliated with either political party.
