Survey of 500 likely voters was conducted August 6, 2012. The margin of error is +/- 4.5 percentage points.  Results from the poll conducted June 6, 2012 are in parentheses.
Inside the numbers:
Romney is ahead of Obama among men by nine points but trails the president by a similar margin among women. Obama continues to lead among young voters, while Romney remains ahead among voters over 40.

The candidates now run even among voters not affiliated with either major political party.
