Survey of 500 likely voters was conducted August 7, 2012. The margin of error is +/- 4.5 percentage points.  Results from the poll conducted July 16-17, 2012 are in curly brackets.  Results from the poll conducted June 3, 2012 are in square brackets.  Results from the poll conducted April 23, 2012 are in parentheses.  Results from the poll conducted March 20, 2012 are in curly brackets.  Results from the poll conducted February 21, 2012 are in square brackets.  Results from the poll conducted September 28, 2011 are in parentheses.

Inside the numbers:
Allen continues to lead among male voters, while Kaine remains ahead among female voters. Also in line with voter trends in most other states, younger voters strongly support the Democrat, while those over 40 give equally strong support to the GOP candidate.

Voters not affiliated with either of the major parties prefer Allen by seven points.

Allen who hopes to regain the Senate seat he lost in 2006 is well ahead among married voters, while most unmarried voters like Kaine instead.

Kaine is viewed very favorably by 26% of all Virginia voters and very unfavorably by 26%. Twenty-six percent (26%) also share a very favorable opinion of Allen, while 25% regard him very unfavorably. This marks little change for either candidate.
